Albina Labutina

“A painting requires a little mystery, some vagueness, and some fantasy. When you always make your meaning perfectly plain you end up boring people.” — Edgar Degas, Souvenirs sur Degas by Georges Jeanniot (1933)

About Albina

Albina Labutina’s practice spans abstract, mixed‑media, 3D,
and genre painting, unified by her sensitivity to color, composition,
structure, and rhythm. Through ingenious handwork and carefully layered
materials, she creates works that invite viewers to slow down, breathe, and
discover subtle details that unfold gradually. Rather than depicting specific
objects or pursuing representation for its own sake, Albina seeks to ignite the
viewer’s imagination, offering visual narratives shaped by her inner world and
personal impressions.

Born in Moscow, Albina Labutina (aka Titova) is a Russian‑American
mixed‑media artist currently based in Charlotte, North Carolina. She relocated
in 2026 after more than two decades in Phoenix, Arizona. Albina’s connection to
art began in early childhood; she completed three years of art school by the
age of fifteen. After a long pause, she returned to her artistic practice
during the COVID period in the early 2020s, reigniting the creative impulse
that now defines her work.
